FAQ's

Do I need any previous surfing experience to join a lesson?

No experience is needed at all. We welcome complete beginners and tailor every lesson to suit your ability, whether it’s your first time or you’re looking to improve.

What age can children start surfing lessons?

Children can usually start from around 7 years old, depending on conditions and confidence in the water. All lessons are fully supervised by qualified instructors. Children under 7 can do lessons but must be part of private tuition NOT part of an open group lesson.

Is all surf equipment included in the lesson price?

Yes. All lessons include a soft-top surfboard and a warm wetsuit, so you just need to bring swimwear, a towel, and enthusiasm.

How long do surf lessons last?

Lessons last around 2 hours but tend to take up 2 1/2hrs of time with check-in and finishing up, giving you plenty of time to learn techniques on the beach and practice in the water.

Do you offer private or group surf lessons?

Yes, we offer both group lessons and private 1-to-1 or small group sessions for those wanting more personalised coaching.

Is Holywell Bay a good beach for beginners?

Absolutely. Holywell Bay is known for its sandy bottom and consistent waves, making it an ideal location for beginners and improvers alike.

What happens if the weather or surf conditions aren’t suitable?

Safety always comes first. If conditions aren’t suitable, we’ll reschedule your lesson or offer a full refund.

What should I bring with me to my surf lesson?

Please bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, water, and warm clothes for afterwards. Everything else is provided.

Are your instructors qualified and insured?

Yes. All our instructors are fully qualified, experienced, and insured, and we follow Surfing England and RNLI safety guidelines.
